July Administrator’s Letter

Happy July everyone,

The month of July is proving to be a busy one! Our traditional summer picnic will be held on
Tuesday, July 5th from 11:00-1:00. It will be held in our front parking lot again this year so
Upper Lakes Foods can bring in their huge grill to BBQ for the picnic. Family and friends are
welcome. Sharon has many summer time activities planned.
Our Family Council and St. Ann’s Volunteer Auxiliary will be sponsoring an Employee Appreciation Pizza Party on July 14th. This pizza party is to thank our dedicated employees for all
of their hard work.
We also want to thank everyone that donated and helped fundraise for our new Social Hall
curtains. They have been installed and we have another of our projects completed.
One of the long traditions that was started by Sister Cecile LaForest, a former resident and
Chapel Sacristan, is to celebrate July 27th as St. Ann’s Day. It is a day of celebration, music
and refreshments.
This year it will be extra special. We will be remembering Father John Doyle beginning with
a 1:00pm service in the Chapel. Father was a resident at St. Ann’s from 2013 to 2022. Father passed away on March 20, 2022 and many could not attend his funeral in Virginia, MN.
It was his wish to have a Memorial Service at St. Ann’s. We then will have a social following
the service with Root Beer Floats and music by Glen Laspi in the Social Hall.
In the words of Sister Cecile – “So let us seize the day and joyfully celebrate each other’s
presence, showing gratitude to all who dwell at St. Ann’s, to our wonderful and dedicated
employees who graciously and efficiently enable us to carry out the Mission of St. Ann’s.”
Sincerely,

Jan and Scott

June Administrator’s Letter

Hello Everyone,

Hope everyone is looking forward to the summer and hopefully some beautiful warm Duluth weather!  We certainly had a cool May and a slow start to the season. Here at St. Ann’s, we have kept busy with many activities and important meetings like Food Committee, Resident Council, Family Council and Open Forum. At these meeting we try to communicate and listen to your concerns. Thank you for making suggestions. Some items we can act on and other times we can explain the obstacle or challenges to addressing your concerns. As the world around us is constantly changing it can be a bit confusing.

We continue to monitor for COVID, and we will continue testing until we have two weeks of zero positive cases. We are still faithfully following the CDC and the MN Department of Health guidelines. Thank you to everyone that has been cooperating and following these guidelines. We know if a resident tests positive, they will still need to quarantine for 10 days. Hopefully with zero cases, soon we can enjoy the nicer warmer temperatures and many upcoming events inside, on the patio, and outings.

Our annual summer picnic is going to be held on Tuesday, July 5th in our front parking lot. It worked out well last year and Upper Lakes will be here to do the grilling. So, mark your calendar!

Wishing the fathers and grandfathers a Happy Father’s Day!

Sincerely,

Scott and Jan

May Administrator’s Letter

Hello Everyone,

May looks like it will be a busy month. Hopefully the weather will be warmer, and we can get outdoors and enjoy the patio. Sharon has many nice activities planned like a Mother’s Day Tea and Spring Dance with the Windjammers.

We would like to thank everyone for your support with our Rummage and Bake Sale. We raised over $3,800 in the two days. Thank you to the dedicated staff and volunteers that made it possible.

Sincerely,

Scott and Jan
